What Can *You* Do That Amazon Cannot? 📚

What Can You Do That
Amazon Cannot?

Dear Authors, Book Buyers and Soon-to-Be Authors,

The subject line in this week’s newsletter may sound like an old fashioned riddle, however if you read it slowly (and read all the way to the end of this newsletter) you may just experience an “ah-ha” moment!

We’ve recently been asked to share more about the business side of authorship by authors who have written one or more books, those in the middle of a publishing process, and those planning to bring their books into the world over the next few years.

With that in mind, we’re launching a three-part series between now and the end of the year on a topic that is essential for building momentum and expanding your book’s reach: bulk sales.

When someone asks, “How do I get more people to read my book?” my typical answer is this:

Get companies and organizations to purchase 20-2,000 copies AND gift books to the right people who can naturally talk about your book or will hire you for your expertise.

In this series we will cover:

Idea 1: Why selling in bulk is important for your professional success and why you can do this better than Amazon.

Idea 2: What you can do as an author to promote bulk sales rather than relying solely on one-at-a-time purchases.

Idea 3: A behind-the-scenes look at how Aloha supports bulk sales, including an introduction to our new customer service team member, Nicole, who will be specializing in this area.

Why Bulk Sales Matter (Rapid-Fire Version)

  • When individuals in the same company, community, or audience read your book, they naturally share ideas and engage with what they’ve learned. If an entire company or event audience has read your book, you instantly gain connection and authority.
  • Companies often want to promote shared ideas by having employees read the same books.
  • Leaders and organizations frequently prefer gifting books to their teams rather than publishing their own. For example, Who Moved My Cheese? became an international sensation in the 90s largely through corporate bulk purchases and has now sold over 30 million copies.
  • Your chances of being hired as a consultant, speaker or expert increase dramatically when more people have your book in their hands.
  • Amazon doesn’t stock the quantities needed for bulk buyers and doesn’t offer bulk discounts. If you can sell directly to organizations, it’s a win-win.

So, how do you get started?

If you’ve worked with Aloha as your publisher, simply send us an email with a short list of 3-5 connections (include name, phone number, email address, and your relationship with them). If they’ve expressed interest in purchasing books and you weren’t sure how to begin, we’ll take it from there.

Of course, you’ll receive royalties based on your contracted agreement and you’ll continue expanding your reach as a thought leader!

As always, we’re here to support you not only in creating beautiful books, but in getting those books into the hands of the readers who will benefit from them the most. I’m excited to walk with you through this series and help you build meaningful momentum.

Mahalo for being here,
