Meet Bryan Banta and
the Heart Behind
Leadership Uncomplicated

Aloha Reader,

We are excited to share with you the story of one of our new authors, Bryan Banta.

When Bryan walked out of FBI headquarters in a dark suit after graduation from the Academy, he thought he’d found his forever calling. He’d already spent years as an engineer at Cisco (a “technologist at heart,” as he says), but after 9/11, he felt pulled to serve. Counterterrorism. Counterintelligence. Cybercrime. The real thing.

Then life swerved with a sudden diagnosis of MS for his wife. In a single conversation, the future reconfigured. Bryan loved the Bureau, but he loved his family more. He did the hard thing and turned in his badge.

Cisco welcomed him back, this time into executive protection. Bryan brought the engineer’s mind to a world of advanced teams and motorcades, digitizing a paper-heavy operation and traveling alongside leaders who looked perfect on camera and sometimes very different off of it.

The contrast lit a fire: leadership isn’t just a title; it’s how you show up when no one’s watching.

So Bryan pivoted again, into people and technology. He started building tools, simplifying processes, and teaching teams to breathe under pressure. Away from work, he earned a black belt in Aikido, opened a small dojo, and taught calm-in-motion to anyone who needed it. At home, he became a full-time caregiver, learning what resilience feels like at 2 a.m. when the world is quiet and love is loud.

All of that life—service, systems, softness—flows into his new book, Leadership Uncomplicated: A Practical Guide for Leading with Confidence. It’s leadership without the jargon: five clear sections, everyday practices, and gentle, durable wisdom about leading with heart and service.

We’d love for you to meet Bryan and learn more about his story and book. With that in mind . . .

Please join us at our offices for an event to celebrate Bryan Banta and another wonderful author, Christie Cooper (more on her in next week’s newsletter).
